Latreasa L. Goodman, 27, of Fort Pierce, Florida, was cited for misusing the emergency line after police said she called 911 three times to report that a McDonald's would not refund her Chicken McNuggets order.

Goodman ordered a 10-piece McNugget meal at the restaurant on Feb. 28, 2009, and paid before a cashier told her the store had run out of the nuggets, according to a Fort Pierce police report. When Goodman asked for her money back, the cashier, Francesa Torres, told her all sales were final and offered her a substitute from the menu.

Goodman refused the swap and dialed 911. "This is an emergency," she told a dispatcher, according to the report. "If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one."

Goodman called the line twice more, telling officers, "I called 911 because I couldn't get a refund, and I want my McNuggets." She also insisted, according to the report, that "my McNuggets are an emergency."

Police cited Goodman for misusing the 911 system, a misdemeanor, and issued her a notice to appear in court. The report noted that the emergency number is reserved for police, fire and medical calls.

A McDonald's spokesman said Goodman should have been given a refund and that the company was sending her a gift card for a free meal, according to news accounts at the time.
