Fatal Police Shooting Near 1800 S. Ridgeway Ave
On February 2, 2025, Chicago police officers were sent to a burglary-in-progress call near 1800 S. Ridgeway Ave. Officers encountered an individual running from a building. A foot chase followed, with an exchange of gunfire between five officers and the individual. The individual was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital, where the individual was pronounced deceased. The officers were not struck by gunfire, and all were taken to a hospital for observation.
