Fatal Police Shooting Near 1800 S. Ridgeway Ave
On February 2, 2025, Chicago police officers responded to a burglary-in-progress call near 1800 S. Ridgeway Ave. Officers encountered a person running from a building. A foot chase followed, and five officers and the person exchanged gunfire. The person was struck and taken to a hospital, where the person was pronounced deceased. The officers were not struck by gunfire, and all were taken to a hospital for observation. A gun was recovered at the scene. Listen to the 911 calls and dispatch audio for this incident here.
