Ewing Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash at Prospect and Parkway
At about 6:24 p.m. on December 19, 2025, Ewing police officers responded to a 911 call reporting the theft of a white Kia in the area of Clover Avenue. Officer Edward Lester, in a marked police vehicle, saw a car matching the description of the stolen Kia. He followed it for a time without activating his emergency lights and sirens. In the area of Coolidge and Pennington avenues, he activated his lights and sirens to try to stop the Kia, but it did not stop. Officers Charles Wyckoff and Jason Ulrich joined the pursuit in separate marked police vehicles with emergency lights activated. The Kia continued driving erratically and at high speed. While traveling northbound on Prospect Street, it went through a red light at Prospect Street and Parkway Avenue and collided with an uninvolved red Subaru traveling eastbound on Parkway Avenue. Four people were in the Subaru. A juvenile passenger was ejected from the Subaru and later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The other Subaru occupants were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the Kia. After the collision, the Kia crashed into the traffic signal pole at the intersection. The pole fell on top of the Kia and Officer Lester's police vehicle. Officer Lester was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The fatal crash is under investigation by the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office is handling the court matter involving the juveniles who were in the Kia. Watch the video of this incident here.
