Ewing Officers Pursue Reported Stolen Kia Before Fatal Crash

On December 19, 2025, around 6:24 p.m., Ewing police officers responded to a 911 call about a stolen white Kia in the area of Clover Avenue in Ewing, New Jersey.

Officer Edward Lester, in a marked police vehicle, saw a car matching the Kia's description. He followed it for a time without lights and sirens, then activated them near Coolidge and Pennington avenues to try to stop it. The Kia did not stop.

Officers Charles Wyckoff and Jason Ulrich joined the pursuit in separate marked vehicles with their emergency lights on. The Kia drove erratically at high speed, went north on Prospect Street, and ran a red light at Prospect Street and Parkway Avenue.

In the intersection, the Kia collided with an uninvolved red Subaru traveling east on Parkway Avenue. The Subaru had four occupants. A juvenile passenger was ejected and later died from crash injuries. The other Subaru occupants and the Kia driver were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

After the collision, the Kia hit a traffic signal pole, which fell onto the Kia and Officer Lester's police vehicle. Officer Lester was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office is handling the court matter involving the juveniles who were in the Kia.
