i cant believe people actually fell for this delusional fool. to me, based on what he was saying, he sounded like any paranoid schizophrenic i've ever heard. add the speech impediment and, he sounds completely stupid. he says he wants to "choose his own kind of death for a change", well, how many other ways did he die? how many times did he think he died? i must have missed something when i learned about Jim Jones but, wtf did Russia have to do with it? what a legathy!
an interesting note: i find it a strange irony that people who claimed to be "christians" and they're yelling "goddamn it" "saying God's name in vain" when they're about to go and "meet him".

In 1951, Jones became a member of the Communist Party USA, and began attending meetings and rallies in Indianapolis. He became flustered with harassment he received during the McCarthy Hearings, particularly regarding an event he attended with his mother focusing on Paul Robeson, after which she was harassed by the FBI in front of her co-workers for attending. just figured I'd pass that along in case anyone else was wondering about the references to Russia in the audio recording :) I just heard this tape for the first time back in May, so I did a lot of reading up after I heard it too :)

That was so creepy!

I was curious about the music and found that the tape is full of half-speed and/or reversed shadows of previous recordings. Several sources state that there was no music playing during that recording.

I think this piece of history is so very important. Thank You for the post. There was a sign hanging in the Jone'sTown Pavilion. "Those who forget history, are doomed to repeat it." How uncanny... Just so you know, the F.B.I. DID NOT record this. JIM JONES DID. It was confiscated by the F.B.I. along with 750 other recordings.

He obviously meant that most people don't choose the way they die, therefore, he would be choosing his own kind of death for a change. He wasn't referring to "other ways he died" but to the ways others died.

There is often more than one way to interpret a sentence.
