Amber Alert Boy Found After Stranger's 911 Call

A woman driving to work in East Cleveland, Ohio, spotted a man walking with a small boy who matched an Amber Alert she had seen on television and stayed on the phone with 911 until officers reached them, according to Cleveland police and local news accounts. The child, 4-year-old Raevon L. Bryant-Ruffin, had been missing since the night before.

Raevon was last seen around 7:30 p.m. on March 26, 2012, playing outside his family's home on West 95th Street in Cleveland, police said. When the other children came inside a short time later, the boy was gone, and so was 19-year-old Isaiah Taylor, who had been staying with the family, according to reports.

An Amber Alert went out overnight. Around 8:30 the next morning, a passing motorist recognized Raevon and Taylor near Eddy Road in East Cleveland and called police while she watched the pair, authorities said. Officers arrived during the call and recovered the boy unharmed.

The caller, identified in news reports as Jacquelyn Harris, told 19 Action News she had been frightened for the child. "I was afraid for this little boy," she said. Raevon was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital to be examined before being returned to his family.

Police said Taylor had lived with Raevon's family off and on for about six months. The motive for the abduction was not made clear. Local news reports said Taylor had a prior arrest involving a minor.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury indicted Taylor on charges of kidnapping and abduction, according to the county prosecutor's office.
