A woman on a mobility scooter has described what it was like when a huge wave crashed over the wall at Swansea Marina and nearly swept her out to sea. Tina Thomas, 44, was out with her husband Ashley and their dog Apollo on Friday, October 27.

She said the water was choppy but didn’t appear to be threatening to wash over the walkway. Tina was on her mobility scooter video calling her mother at the time when out of nowhere a huge wave washed up and threw her from her seat.

“Last Christmas I lost my friend Rachel after she drowned in a car accident,” Tina told. “As the wave hit and I was completely submerged underwater my first thought was ‘I'm going to drown like Rachel’.”
