How are fireworks able to ignite on their own when dropped?

There was once a massive fireworks disaster in Denmark, which started at a fireworksfactory where a box was dropped. (Google: Seest fireworks disaster) How is this possible?
Fireworks can contain a lot of different volatile substances, some of which can be detonated by shock. It's also possible that when dropped the box caused a spark that ignited loose pyrotechnic powder on the ground and started the fire.



Explosives can be ignited in different ways. Fireworks mostly use black powder. When you heat up black powder it will burn. However if you compress black powder it will explode. In most settings the compression comes from setting fire to the black powder in a confined space. However you can also physically compress the black powder to get it to explode. This is how a gun works as there is a hammer that hits a piece of explosives against a tiny anvil. Similarly if a box of fireworks is dropped on a hard floor the bottom black powder can be compressed between the heavy fireworks on top and the hard floor causing it to explode setting off fires and explosions throughout the factory.
