I didn't see where he was physically blocked but I guess he could've become "mentally blocked" when the gate came down on top of him. I would have put maximum horsepower on going forward or backward or just running like hell away from the truck.

A truck turning across a level crossing in Hanoi became trapped and was struck head-on by a train, killing the driver and leaving a local resident with multiple injuries.

At about 7:51 p.m. Wednesday, the SE3 train, with 14 carriages, was traveling southward through Ngoc Hoi Ward, around 14 km away from the downtown area.

Upon reaching an automatic barrier crossing, the train collided with a truck driven by Nguyen Van Thai, 52, a resident of Me Linh Commune.

The truck was apparently turning across the level crossing when the barrier lowered, leaving the vehicle stuck on the railway tracks.

Do Nhu Hung, 41, a local resident, saw the truck trapped and ran over to help lift the barrier. At that moment, the train approached and struck the truck head-on.

The impact caused the train and the truck to slide along the tracks for about 50 meters.

The scene showed the container torn open, the steel frame twisted and the cabin crushed; the locomotive’s front was dented, with metal fragments and railings scattered on both sides.

Thai died at the scene, while Hung sustained multiple injuries and is receiving emergency treatment at the Agricultural General Hospital.


He had enough time to get out of the truck but why not proceed as those barriers are like matchsticks ffs. Almost looks like he was suicidal or completely panicked.
