The train strike occurred at the intersection of Court Street and 12th Street in Salem, Oregon, on Tuesday morning. According to the Salem Police Department, there were no injuries and the train did not derail.    |

I think the trucker was all over his mirrors and had already sized up the wide turn. The gates seemed to be coming down but he had enough time to negotiate the turn he had begun. Mr. Chevy Shithead in the gray truck wasn't about to move an inch for his wide turn. Unless you have driven a tractor-trailer, it's easy to judge some things. Not only are you watching something as large as a house, you're watching TWO in mirrors. And pedestrians. And traffic. And poles. And fire hydrants. And bicyclists. He would have made it but the regret was too late. |
