Train Hits Car of Deputy Stationmaster of Taiwan Railways Administration

A deputy stationmaster of the TRA, surnamed Su, 50, allegedly skipped work on the evening of the 11th and drove his car across a level crossing.

After the barriers were lowered, his vehicle became stuck on the tracks and was eventually struck by a train.

The vehicle was completely destroyed, but fortunately, he managed to get out of the car in time and was unharmed. Both drivers had a blood alcohol level of 0.

He hurriedly got out but didn't press the emergency stop button straight away but first tried to get the barrier up and horsed around his car not knowing what to do.

The train continued its trajectory. In the final critical moment, he jumped away, but the rear of his vehicle was violently struck by the train, scattering debris everywhere.

TRA stated that it has launched an investigation and will convene a special performance review meeting as soon as possible to impose severe penalties based on the investigation's findings.

TRA General Manager Feng Hui-sheng stated at a recent event that the employee will first be transferred from his current position, and further disciplinary action will be taken.

The accident occurred at the Qiumaoyuan level crossing on the eastern main line between Xinpu and Tongxiao.

What an idiot. I was gonna say that if he was willing to break the barrier, he should have taken some momentum with his car and driven through it. But it seems to be a pretty strong barrier
