43-year-old worker surnamed Z. at a construction site in Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City accidentally fell 10 meters into an elevator shaft due to an unstable center of gravity. I’ll bet you he fractured his foot jumping off the truck which caused him to fall forward.

I think it was pure momentum. He pushed off the truck fender located under the bed, and landed 18" outside of the bed, so his center of gravity traveled about 2' laterally when his heels hit the steel plate. Both of his hands slipped off the bed so there was no lateral force to keep his body from continuing its path into the shaft.

Can’t see if he stuck the landing but I’m thinking 9.1 for the reverse somersault he does halfway down the shaft.

In my experience too much side motion halfway down the shaft can be really painful.
