Yesterday, at the intersection of Essex and Rivington Street a yellow taxi lost control, jumped the curb, and plowed into two women standing outside a Deli Grocery.

One woman, Dina, was thrown into the store's open basement cellar door by the force of the impact.

Witnesses reported hearing her whisper from below before help arrived. The second woman was thrown onto the hood of the cab and then onto the pavement.

Both women were transported to the hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive. A third person, a passenger in the taxi, was also hospitalized.

The NYPD has stated that no criminality is suspected. The driver, identified as a woman in her 20's, has not been arrested or charged.

A passenger named Brenna, who was inside the cab, stated that "everything was normal" until the vehicle suddenly careened into the shop.
