PSA: A coworker of mine was paralyzed doing exactly that. Leave that stuff to the pros. They have special insurance for it.

I don’t disagree. But I think people don’t realize how random and powerful the pendulum effect can be - even with a smaller branch. This guy was a world traveling adventure athlete. Now he’s a chronic pain ridden paraplegic. All in the blink of an eye. |

He should have dropped the tree at its base, standing on the ground. The tree had a bit of a tilt, but it could have been wedged to fall along the cross-slope.  |
