I read multiple books a week and have a degree in history. I know exactly what the definition of "dialect" means. "Swiss German" is not a language within it's own right. Period.

Incidentally I'm a teacher of German and Schwitzerdütsch is considered as a dialect of German rather than a standalone language. At least, that was the official point of view, when I graduated back in summer 1994. IDK, how things worked out since then...

Seriously, there is no concept like "dialect" in modern linguistics anymore.
If you insist to use that word, you may do it but then you also have to add that German itself is a dialect of German!

You come off as the ignorant one.

We are using German as the damn recognized language here. Which makes "Swiss German" a dialect of it. I've made that clear more than once. You are playing semantics because you don't want to admit that you're wrong. That's a problem you yourself will have to deal with.
