Racing Driver Killed in Motorsport Championships
According to the Kuban emergency services, one of the participants of the first stage of the championship of Russia in trophy-raids (off-road racing) in Gelendzhik died. The sports SUV’s driver lost control, and the car crashed into ravine. "While driving on the rally-raid highway on Saturday, one of the drivers lost control on a steep climb and tilted from a slope into a ravine," Interfax quotes its source. As the team #49 was about to finish one of the stages at annual 4x4 competition in Gelenjik,Russia, the suv has lost its brakes and went of the hill rolling down and killing a co-pilot. The driver says that they had their seatbelts on all the time, but his team-mate took it off just a few seconds before the car started going backwards as he thought that they were about to finish and got to the top of this hill. The driver died, the navigator was hospitalized with a moderate concussion. |
