Aug 18 2009 A Floyd County police officer remained hospitalized after the cruiser he was driving collided head-on with another car being driven by an 18-year-old man.
Floyd County Sheriff Darrell Mills says Officer Brad Scott was northbound on Highway 150 around 10:30 Monday night when he saw a silver PT Cruiser on the wrong side of the road.
Mills says Officer Scott was unable to avoid the crash that heavily damaged both vehicles.
"I'm glad they told me on the phone that it was not serious before getting here, because if I'd had got out and saw that car, I would have been very concerned."
Mills says the officer was taken to Floyd Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the PT Cruiser was checked out at the scene and declined to go to the hospital.
The officer was not on an emergency run at the time of the crash, and Mills says he was probably on his way home after his shift.
The investigation is continuing. So far no charges have been filed.
