Re: Overtaking Attempt Ends with Head-on Crash
I was driving to the Harrahs-Rincon resort in San Diego. Part of the route is hilly with a lot of sharp turns and corners. The posted speed limit is 45mph, but I was navigating it at 40 mph. A driver two cars behind me I believe gets frustrated at my speed and when we come to a short straight area of road (uphill incline) he attempts to pass crossing double yellow lines. Unluckily, a truck approached from the opposite direction just when he was halfways past me. I slammed on my breaks so this dumbass wouldn't kill himself or the other innocent driver. He then took off like a bat out of hell. It turns out that he was headed to Harrah's too, which at the time of the incident was still 20 miles away. In the end, we both arrived at the resort together with me right behind him despite me going only the speed limit...he apparently ran into more traffic and I just gradually caught up. He risked so much, his life and the life of others...for nothing. |
