One Dead, 2 Injured when Train Rams Car at Train Level Crossing
Vietnam, at 6:30 a.m. today, Mr. N. T. M. (29 years old) drove a 7-seat car, carrying his wife and son in the direction of West-East. The car crossed the train level crossing when the lights were red. The person responsible for moving the barrier the right way was a bit too late. The accident caused N. T. P. (7 months old) to die on the spot and N.T.M and his wife T. T. M. T. (22 years old) were seriously injured. Currently, they are in emergency care at the General Hospital.   |

Maybe his sight was blocked by the bright sun but still, if you don't have a clear vision you should think he would have approached the level crossing with more caution but he didn't.

I don’t understand what that flimsy gate was doing in the first place. Makes no sense to have it in the path of the train. Wut? Where are the barriers that go down on the road?  |

Look at the video, the lights don't start flashing until the car is almost totally past them. There's definitely something wrong with them, they don't seem to turn on until the very last second, too late to react to. The lights don't go off afterwards either and the road barriers never come down at all. I think that barrier the woman moves is supposed to be a signal for the train, telling it to stop, but it's going too fast to stop, so he's blaring the horn and the woman moves the barrier out of its way. It almost seems like she presses something on that red box she passes, as the flashing lights turn on exactly when she passes it, so maybe it's a manually operated crossing and she fucked up and forgot/didn't expect a train to be coming through. |
