Re: Officers Save Woman from Sinking BMW
I've had a couple near death experiences, one of which was a very scary house/grounds fire, and panic came and went in the span of about 3 seconds, so it's hard for me to understand someone who completely loses their head during an emergency. But like you and Metal Mike said, everyone reacts to stress differently. Thankfully I'm not the type to lose their cool, or I'd be a roasted Invertigo |

Re: Officers Save Woman from Sinking BMW
I almost drowned once and probably came close another time . The first time I got knocked semi-conscious and I calmly thought "Oh no, no here. Not like this.". Kinda like The second time was in a 10ft deep whirlpool in the Rogue River. I was at the bottom and was fighting with everything in me to get to the surface with the current resisting me. Then, when I did hit the surface, I came up under the raft so I could not get any air and the current sucked me right back down. This happened 2 or 3 times. I probably had about 5 seconds left before I would have passed out and be sucked down to the bottom of the whirlpool if I couldn't get some air. Just when I was about to be 'done', something ANIMAL came exploding out of me. It was unthinking. Unblinking. Pure ANIMAL. P-A-N-I-C M-O-D-E I had definitely passed the point of even the possibilty of any kind of calm, deliberate or rational thinking. I thought afterward, "So, that is the Survival Instinct!". |
