West Java Province, Indonesia. The inauguration of a hanging bridge on Sunday afternoon suddenly turned into a scene of panic when a primary suspension cable on the left side suddenly detached.

This caused the bridge floor to violently twist, plunge down and sag sharply to one side, throwing the entire group off balance. Roughly 50 people crowded onto the bridge consisted of local villagers and a formal government delegation. no one died but several got inured.

Problem might be more of rampant corruption than intelligence. Example theres plenty of good engineers and builders in China, they just choose to cut corners and disregard safety so they can pocket more money. Safety inspectors inspected the amount of cash they received when they visited the site and then gave the project a green light.

Agreed as we've seen that in many other cases but in this case it's for a diff reason. Before the ribbon-cutting event, the local military command had explicitly installed a prominent notice board stating strict safety regulations and capacity limits. (3 people)

Officials noted that the sheer enthusiasm of the villagers to cross alongside the delegation led the crowd to completely disregard the warning signs.

The main structure of the bridge, built by a military engineer/pioneer battalion, remained in place, while the part that is experiencing problems is the sling rope on the left side which came loose from the main fastening system

the bridge's main core structure remained completely intact. The failure was strictly isolated to the left cable slipping out of its main anchor due to the excessive weight force.
