Man Drives Dodge Challenger Hellcat Onto Railroad Tracks & Guess What…..
Thankfully, no one was hurt when a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train crashed into a Dodge Challenger Hellcat in Quincy, Illinois early Sunday morning (01/04/26). But that's where the good news ends. According to a report by local outlet Muddy River News, the driver of the car was cited for DUI and other charges after his car was destroyed by the train. The incident occurred on Sunday around 1:30 a.m. According to Quincy Police, 27-year-old Jacob Anders was behind the wheel when he wound up with his muscle car stuck on the railroad tracks. Video posted on the Virtual Railfan Facebook page captured the entire incident. As the video shows, Anders properly signaled for a turn as he approached the intersection of Wisman Lane and N 30th Street, but instead of turning onto the road, he turned onto the railroad tracks. The Dodge ground to a halt in the gravel roughly 180 feet from the intersection, according to police. The occupants exited the vehicle, but a few minutes later the gates at the railroad crossing came down. In the video, you can hear people scream and the engine roar as the driver makes one last attempt to move the car. The driver finally gave up, however, wisely abandoning the car and running to safety. About 30 seconds later, the freight train crashed into the back of the Dodge Challenger. It reportedly pushed the car for 300 feet before the train could come to a stop. Anders escaped injury but his day was about to get worse. Police cited him for DUI, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Read that last charge again: the Dodge Challenger Hellcat that was just hit by a freight train and pushed a football field feet down the tracks was not insured, according to police. Suffice it to say, Anders seems about to learn a very expensive lesson. |

Google Map : Wisman Lane and N. 30th St. Quincy, Illnois. The freight loading dock next to the tracks is visible in the upper left quadrant. The loading dock has a yellow border all around the cement dock area. HIS year is off to a great start! How did his bank let him drive off in a car with no insurance? Looking at the station again, it's apparently a commuter station. No sign of the Dodge Hellcat right now. Maybe it will show up on Google Maps in a couple of months. (That's a JOKE!) |

Can’t believe he couldn’t have turned off the traction control and rocked that back n forth off the tracks. You have 700HP to play with. You could spin the rear wheels off that car if you were desperate.
