Whilst I too would have hit the brakes (and have had to do so many times thanks to stupid fuckwit chav-babies running around my neighbourhood), I believe if it can be clearly proven it was entirely the kid's fault for getting hit, that there be no free medical treatment for the child and the driver gets a bumper-sticker with "I crippled a chav".
