Going Up! Man N Elevator Breaks Back
poor fuck A man was injured after an elevator he was riding in traveled up 31 floors in 15 seconds while he desperately pushed buttons in an attempt to stop it. This surveillance video posted to YouTube shows Jose Vergara Acevedo entering the elevator on the first floor of a new apartment complex in Santiago, Chile. Before the doors even closed, the elevator began its rapid ascent, eventually slamming into the ceiling. The elevator stayed at the top floor, where emergency personnel were able to rescue Acevedo. He's currently in stable condition in intensive care after suffering leg and head injuries, and reportedly may not be able to walk again because of damage to his spine. |

Urban legend says that if you're in that type of situation you should jump up and down to minimize the impact, whether to the ceiling or the floor of the elevator. |

Re: Going Up! Man N Elevator Breaks Back
I used to work security in a high rise building and one night while doing my rounds of the floors I got on the elevator which was the type with the glass walls and pushed the button to go up. The elevator started going up and down several floors very quickly and would not stop. I had to use the fire service keys to get it to stop and it did so between floors. I got the doors open and jumped out to the lower floor it was stuck on. Never rode that elevator again. Scared the shit out of me. |
