Re: The Force of an Exploding Truck Tyre
Seen someone have a tire explode in his face while he was airing it up. It was a much smaller tire, and he was lucky enough that it happened at lower pressure. Ended up ringing his bell quite enough to stun him, as well as cause significant hearing loss for about half the work day.

Re: The Force of an Exploding Truck Tyre
Cool post. I saw a tire blow with a dude standing on top airing it up while seating the bead with the tire hammer. When it blew he went on the hood of a truck and the rim went straight up (tire and all) and left a ring impression in the 18 foot high ceiling. That was only at about 75 psi or so on last check ppl... don't fuck with pressure if you haven't seen what it can do, just sayin' |

Re: The Force of an Exploding Truck Tyre
That's not a normal tire explosion. I've spent several years each both on the back of a garbage truck, and driving trucks. I've experienced a few blowouts. It's a helluva big bang, but it's not THAT big and doesn't produce smoke. There's definitely more going on here. Perhaps they seated the bead with the old WD-40 trick? It is a very popular roadside technique... |

Re: The Force of an Exploding Truck Tyre
way i see it, right before the truck stopped, that wheel looked like it was already off its mounting. when the truck backed up, that tire is being left behind by the other wheels. the tire was probably pressed with something metal under the chassis or was pierced.
