I bet the excavator is worth 5X what a life in China is worth. What do they pay in China for a railroad passenger accident death, for example? Surprised the Chi-coms would allow a remote heavy equipment operator, no skin in the game! More likely they would chain the operator to the excavator, like they would chain a machine gun crew to their gun before a battle. |

I can't tell if it was operated remotely by the guy on the cliff. There didn't appear to be ANY urgency to GTFO of the cab when it started for the drop off.

That would definitely explain a lot. Esp how it kept driving forward after it slid into that depression and didn't correct accordingly with its tracks slanted torwards the edge.

The guy had some balls. Maybe they cushioned his fall  I would have jumped out that couple seconds before when it was starting to go. |
