Fuck I hate this country. I lived there for 2 years to help my Dad unwind his life there.

Note how no one does a damn thing. That guy died on the sidewalk alone. No one pulls over. And no one ever would. It's a heartless place where this kind of accident happens so frequently, unless you know the victim personally, no one notices. You will see corpses. If you're lucky (or maybe unlucky for our crowd), the yellow sheet is in place. Often it is not.

You can drive anything you like however you like. Half the bikes are Frankenstein creations, dirt bikes on the highway etc. All traffic signs are merely suggestions. They wear black at night. The law "requires" one piece of reflective tape, usually their backpack strap. It's not even attached to the vehicle and they wear out easily making them useless. No matter how many people die or lose limbs, nothing ever improves. They just accept everything. It makes it's a shithole all around.

I lived in a town of 2,000 people spread over 15 kilometers. In 2 years, I knew 4 people who were killed in traffic accidents including a 30 yr old mother who was wiped off the street b/c someone didn't follow the school bus "suggestions". Her 8 year old was holding her hand. There was a 19 yr old girl riding her bike home from work at night which was heartbreaking b/c she wasn't just pregnant sitting at home like every other 14-19 yr old girl. I knew two who were maimed. I had a probate hearing delayed because the documents guy was hit on his bike with my paperwork. He lost his arm.

That's just accidents. The corruption and violent crime is far worse. Costa Rica has great PR and like Jamaica, it's wonderful as long as you stay where tourists are welcome. Other than that, it's a shithole 3rd world country. Do not move there. Do not buy anything there. And sure as fuck do not open a business there like my dear old dad did. You'll be lucky to get out with the clothes on your back.

What you leave behind will be claimed by squatters. It's how their system works. Convince wide eyed Canadian and Americans it's the 51st state b/c they all speak English and are sooooo helpful and kind. They actually dislike people who learn Spanish. As a Spanish speaking gringo, they couldn't openly talk in front of me. It makes it harder to rip you off. After ingratiating yourself so you can get in with these dumb ass gringos, make life hell for them by stealing everything not nailed down and destroying everything else. Behave in a physically threatening manner when necessary. (I had a body guard at one point. I was dismantling a huge operation where I displaced many well established cons and the criminals behind them. Talk in town was that I needed a beat-down to send me back to the US, "teach that cunt a lesson" about who is in charge. So, I hired a gangster from the most powerful gang around, lol. He was covered in prison tats all over his body. If he were not my bodyguard, he would have scared the shit out of me. While people talked, no one fucked with me after he came on the scene. And it's not like my Dad was some kind of kingpin of industry. He owned a small mall, apt complex and 2 star hotel on a subpar beach in the middle of nowhere.)

Once the foreigner is done and wants to return home to N America, make it impossible for them to sell anything for more than pennies on the dollar. Wait for them to give up and return home to the 1st world, then take whatever is left. After 12 months, seek ownership through squatting laws. Redecorate after the judge approves it. Stupid gringos will defend it with TONS of BS so they can pretend it's not a losing bargain where in actually, 1 or 2 Ticos give a shit about anyone they know that isn't family. The rest are on the take. And those 1 or 2, you'd be an idiot to trust them too.

The Trumpies think they're smarter so well protected from scams but even once they clue in, for some reason, they're ok with living this way. Maybe it enforces their ideas of who is better at being humans. They're comfortable with living in shit as long as they are in charge. They left the US b/c they think it's a 3rd world country in the making. It makes no sense.

The liberal 1/2 of the Gringos would call me a racist. The Ticos would agree me 100%. That the best part about the whole thing. Once they know that you know, they stop pretending when in your presence. Pura Vida!
