Re: Car Suddenly Accelerates to 129 Kmph Before Crashing
Main reason I HATE newer cars that use a drive by wire system. I don't know if this one was an accident because... A.) He sure reacted pretty quickly. If it was "all of the sudden" I am sure he would have rammed into the back of the car in front of him. If not, dudes got ninja skills. B.) SLAM on the brakes. A Hyundai isn't powerful enough to over ride it's brakes, let alone accelerate it to 80 with brakes engaged. Unless the brakes were undersized for the vehicle, which I would blame on shitty Asian engineering. |

Re: Car Suddenly Accelerates to 129 Kmph Before Crashing
For most automatic cars (assuming that is what this was) The emergency brake would slow it down. Unfortunately, it would get rubbed down eventually, but that would take lots of driving with your e-brake on. Not only that, you can't get your key out of the ignition while the car is not in park in the newer models. My Hyundai doesn't even lock unless my keys are out of the ignition. It's sad, and most people are so shocked and scared, but you just have to remember when you're in this situation to switch it over to neutral and slowly press the brake. |

Re: Car Suddenly Accelerates to 129 Kmph Before Crashing
Actually guys, if you knew anything about cars, putting the car in park while it's reving like that would cause a blow out of your engine. You're supposed to shift it into neutral, swiftly shut your car off with the key, turn on your emergency lights and push it off the road. That shit would scare the fuck outta me though! But seriously, neutral gear, shut off engine, push off road, call 911 or a towing service. |
