That left turn lane is absolutely misleading. Somebody unfamiliar with this stretch of road would easily do what this driver did.

You mean, not look at what's coming ahead or slow down in anticipation of turning left when there's a big honking arrow on the ground that says, Go Left?  |

I do agree with you...but you have to wonder if this guy fell asleep, was too high on something or suffered from something, he just sort of slides to the left, no change signal, no braking or swerving the car, even as he is about to smack in. People who are about to crash into something seem to almost always slam on the brakes or try and swerve away.
