Re: Biker with GoPro Hits Truck Head-on on Californian Mountain Road
Combined probably about 50. He hit the brakes pretty hard before hitting, wiped a bit of speed at least. Ironically, his mistake was what kept him alive. A better rider would not have locked up their front wheel like he did, hoping to just pull the turn tighter, but ironically that might have killed them if they hit the side of the truck instead at higher speed. |

The friend sounds more concerned about the trashed bike than about his buddy having been hit by a fire truck. He's damn lucky that it was firefighters who hit him, too. They're trained first responders and usually carry a Paramedic.

Re: Biker with GoPro Hits Truck Head-on on Californian Mountain Road
Looked like to be he hit a pretty severe bump in the road while he was leaned over and that is what put him on the path to hit the truck. The speed alone was definitely not the issue. It takes a lot of experience to avoid that situation, been there, done that. |
