In NYC it is hard to find many "innocent bystanders" who are "traumatized" by witnessing the death of a stranger. I know as I lived around that area for many years. Most people there just don't give a shit about strangers getting ground up by a subway train except to the extent that it shuts down the station and delays them on the way to work. That's just the way it is.

One upon a time every subway station had a men's room and a women's room. Early '70s crime made them a mugging and rape hazard so almost all were locked up ever since. I've been saying for years that the Transit Authority should install a toilet behind the last pillar on the train platform since that's what it's being used for anyway.
