I wasn’t there but I’ve seen a ton of people get shot and I’d put money that this was a perfectly place bullet in his heart and lung. He’s literally drowning in his own blood. The blood is pouring out of his heart and it’s entertaining his lung and airway when his body breaths it sucks blood into his lungs while the lung injury sucks air from the wound and blood from the heart. Collapsing the lung and filling it with blood at the same time.
