Shitshow indeed. Imagine watching your friend get shot, and these two show up. It immediately becomes apparent they don't give a single fuck about your friend. You watch them stand there not doing shit for several seconds, prioritizing getting answers before slapping on some gloves and going hands on (the non-verbal cop didn't even try to make a real effort to assist and eventually just gave up altogether) and when they finally do go hands on, you watch the first world equivalent of those videos from Asia where bystanders hold their recently drowned children upside down by the ankles to shake the water out. That cop should be embarrassed. It's no wonder the bystanders weren't forthright with information at the time, they're too busy begging for real help to arrive. ---- Legend has it the non-verbal cop is still trying to put on those purple gloves. |

Try watching it with the sound muted to eliminate the crowd emotion. The lead cop was doing everything right and the first thing he did was call in for medical. Then he asked the people for killer tips as he was putting on his PPE (not instead of). He followed lengthy first aid protocol prior to CPR, including stripping body and checking for injuries that CPR would aggravate. That was a good job focusing on his job despite the frantic crowd. Notice how most of the crowd dissipated as soon as the cops showed. Real award winners there amongst your soul mates.  |

People think their weapons and hands on training is bad. How often do you see cops with IFAKs? Such should also be standard issue with regular training but that would require more resources.  |

Oh shit, you're right! This changes everything! I can't believe muting the video actually allowed me, a lowly EMT-3, to see the hustle from the cop you conveniently refused to acknowledge! Without all that backround noise, now I can tell how ready he was to catch that radio! Calling for backup is obviously a two person job, and more important than having one guy slap on some gloves and begin to assess the guy that's desperately trying to take the NYC Sidewalk Temperature Challenge. It's not like seconds matter in these kind of situations.  |
