A 19-year-old girl identified as J.O.N. died this Sunday, October 17, in Neópolis, in the Lower São Francisco region of Sergipe, after being the victim of a traffic accident between a motorcycle taxi and a Celta vehicle.


According to the information, the victim who was returning from Penedo, upon arriving at the ferry port in Neópolis, called a motorcycle taxi driver to be taken to the municipality of Ilha das Flores, also located in the Lower São Francisco region of Sergipe.

When approaching the location known as “Curva do Borges”, still in Neópolis, the motorcycle on which the victim was traveling as a passenger collided with a Celtic vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

With the impact of the collision, both the motorcycle taxi driver and the young woman were thrown from the motorcycle, leaving both with serious injuries. The victims were rescued and sent to the hospital in Neópolis, but J.did not resist and died while she was being prepared to be transferred to Aracaju.

The motorcycle taxi driver is still hospitalized at the Sergipe Emergency Hospital (HUSE). The Celta driver who was visiting Ilha das Flores/Neópolis/Santana do São Francisco had only minor injuries.

It's possible with CPR, intubation, etc., but it's difficult. Agonal breaths indicate a low oxygen state in the brain. It can't handle thar for too long, and the outcome probably won't be pretty even if you save them.

It depends, but usually by that point you're pretty much screwed. Like SkinnyFella said, even with immediate medical intervention, you could be saved, we can hook you up to machines and keep your body running almost indefinitely without you having to do any of the work, but it doesn't take long for the brain to suffer irreparable damage due to lack of oxygen, so the prognosis wouldn't be good and you'd pretty much be an organ donor by then.

Something else to keep in mind, agonal breathing can occur for minutes after the heart has completely stopped beating, which could be the case here, giving the illusion that she's in a better condition than she really is.
