Those crushers undulate and the rocks are crushed into smaller pieces the lower they go into the funnel. He was literally pulverized and his body was flattened and bones broken until he was small and malleable enough to exit the bottom. He felt the legs, pelvis and ribs but not for long.

The Machine should have been off and they should have used the crane that was right next to him to pick up that rock instead of jarring it loose.
