Absolutely. And no loose clothing, and NO long hair!!! I’ve worked around machines just like this myself, that guy had NO business putting his right hand on the paper roll to steady or balance himself with. Looks like he was not paying attention and lost track of how close his hand was to the ‘bite’ point... that’s all it takes. It’s really too bad it wasn’t running a lot faster. If it were he would probably have only been degloved or had his arm ripped off, but he would still be alive! I had a good friend who’s hand was degloved on a machine much like Stephen King’s ‘Mangler’. Ended up with two fingers shortened by a knuckle or two and the doctors had his hand sewn into his abdominal cavity to heal!!! He told me he could feel his organs where his hand was placed! But, he was alive!!!   |
