Worker Buried Alive During Sewage Pipe Replacement

Colombia, During pipe replacement of the sewage system a worker identified as H. C, guided the installation of a pipe in a 5 meter deep trench.

As the man worked, one of the walls collapsed and he ended up buried alive. His work colleagues immediately ran to try to help him, but after spending several minutes doing so, the man unfortunately passed away.

Once the body was rescued, the competent judicial authorities were in charge of carrying out the technical procedures of inspection and removal of the corpse, to proceed with the investigation that allows establishing the errors that led to the development of this tragic accident.

Re: Worker Buried Alive During Sewage Pipe Replacement

Holy fuck. This is simple shit. In Canada, and im assuming in America too, if you go more than 4' deep, you are supposed to dig the walls on a 45° slope to prevent cave ins. Often the walls cave in and self-45° before you could ever get that deep anyhow.

Re: Worker Buried Alive During Sewage Pipe Replacement

That’s about a 15-20 ft trench with no support besides that yarn they’re holding up. It’s like they wanted the cunt to be buried.

Re: Worker Buried Alive During Sewage Pipe Replacement

Rule #1 to not being buried. Don't climb into a giant dirt hole.

Most sites require trench protection, that is, the steel plates that go on the wall of the trench, and then have bars that hold them apart in case of a cave-in. Of course, that $10 a day rental is WAY too much for these guys to spend. That's more than the worker earns, so why bother?
