Having grown up a 3rd-generation boxer, I've seen plenty of knockouts and I'm gonna go ahead and say that he never even knew he was about to die. If you watch when he falls, as soon as the back of his head hits the wall his arm goes stiff...textbook sign of a knockout. I guess that does make it a little less terrifying than being alive watching this machine come down on you, but then again...if he hadn't been knocked out could possibly could have escaped in time. Who knows.
