for one, the driver of the forklift drove with the load too high.. it should have been lower to the ground.. That's the reason why you are suppose to lower the load, for even weight distribution and to be able to see in front of you.. Ideally he should have drove it with the load behind driving backwards... but time is money and they cut "time" corners. If these "time" corners weren't cut and some SA (Situational Awareness) was on behalf of the forklift operator, the victim would still be alive  |

How about the man who was run over should have paid attention to his surroundings. Tooling around in a dangerous environment and not watching your back is pretty stupid.

I admittedly don't know much about forklift operations, but I believe that the yellow lines are an indication that forklifts will be travelling back and forth through them, hence walking over them is like walking into a busy highway. You have to watch your surroundings and be careful. As far as I can tell, this is the peds fault. Great post!! |

Here in the uk you have to sit in your truck when around fork lifts, years ago we used our common sense, but really fork lifts should reverse with large loads.

Agree and in addition, going backwards makes a bip-horn sounding so anyone can be aware. It's like a plane accident; multi-  mistakes turn into a death day.
