That area is one of the worst in the city actually. They are gentrifying and making areas west and northwest of the Uptown area unaffordable to push "less desirables" out. I live out in the suburbs which of course when you push the higher crime, higher poverty demographic out, they typically end up in the suburbs where it is a bit more affordable. The housing market here is insane, and it has been even prior to the last 2-3 years where we have seen prices soar. Charlotte is the 2nd largest financial hub in the U.S. behind NYC. Tons of transplants here also which can bring a mix of who knows what. |
