From what I have read, they gouged out her eyes. I'm not exactly sure why they would put sunglasses on her because she couldn't see anyways, but I feel they're connected some how. And, also, from what I have read, she was alive when they buried her. |

The torturing part was simply because they wanted to torture her. Stealing is not worth killing someone, let alone horribly torturing someone.
