A 27-year-old woman, Kenesha M.J.V., was shot dead by her fiancé, 32-year-old businessman Marlon D.

Kenesha and Marlon had been together for four years, and had a three-year-old son. At around 8pm on 22nd February, the two had an argument. Marlon had been drinking at a bar when he was called home, and he was reportedly annoyed at this, sparking the argument.

After a few minutes of arguing, Kenesha was slapped by Marlon, prompting her to run and get a knife. However, as she approached him, Marlon pulled out his licensed pistol, and shot her multiple times. Marlon contacted the police, and Kenesha was transported to hospital, where she died during treatment.

According to detectives, they recovered four 9mm cases and three suspected projectiles. An examination of Kenesha's body uncovered twelve injuries - entry and exit wounds. Marlon was arrested - at a preliminary hearing, at which he was not required to plead, his lawyers claimed self-defence.
