Re: Woman Set Herself on Fire and Died After Inlaws Beat and Tortured Her
Shock does that to you. Also this footage shows the fire mostly out. She died, so most likely her burns went deep under the skin to cause severe fatal damage. Have you ever seen monks self immolate? Their conviction, their protest, keeps them from screaming in pain even as they are engulfed. Some sitting very serene. |

Re: Woman Set Herself on Fire and Died After Inlaws Beat and Tortured Her
Thermal injuries are nasty and can kill, normally pretty quick. The heat burns from the mouth to the lungs. It will start to swell to the point that if they aren't intubated, it will close completely. They will die later in the day from infection, loss of fluids, with so assistance from hypothermia. The skin keeps the body warm. When it is burned badly, it doesn't retain body heat. 'You are going to die. I will keep you as comfortable as possible. There is the phone, call your family.' |

IMHO, what you are probably seeing adrenaline at work. 50% Of burn victims succumb to shock, respiratory failure & sepsis all lead to multiple organ failure, causing death.
