It's a V. Name of their gang translates into something like "Red Command," and "vermelho" (sp? don't really care) = red in Portuguese. So they're holding up V's to rep their gang.

Im thinking if she puked she probably was taken from her home after she ate, or they gave her something to eat, and decided to kill her afterwards.
