Yup. It is a scary feeling when you realize that you are helpless behind the wheel and can't change direction or even slow down significantly. It had best happen (if it is going to happen at all) at low speed so that the damage will be minimal - assuming no head-on collision results.

Yeah, right. By that line of reasoning every car that came through that particular patch of the highway, where "ice and snow covered more of the road" should have lost control and gone into a skid. |

Looked like the tire ruts got pretty deep in that turn. Right before she loses it you can see the the front end do a little side to side motion like the tires were caught in the ruts. Add that to speed and most likely over correcting in the snow and ice and your in a free spin. This is all just conjecture of course but I've experienced something like this a couple times. Obviously with much better outcome thank god. |
