We live in a system that thrives on competition and having leverage over others. You're only as free and as powerful as your purchasing power allows you to be. By doing what they do, they gain more power. It's a sick system we all play a part in perpetuating, either by willingly playing the game, or being apathetic to the impact it has on those less fortunate.
