This happened in Guadalajara, the city where I live, and the driver is not getting jail time as the husband of the deceased decided not to press charges against him

Probably cause he know her wife was distracted while crossing and also he is aware the driver has 2 kids and doesn't want to fuck that family too

I think you guys are overlooking the psychosocial aspect in play here. She waited her turn and began crossing with another person to her left, there's a presumed expectation of safety in numbers. It was broad daylight and as far as she knew, she had the right of way, wasn't crossing alone, and had a person "covering her blind spot", no reason to think she's in danger, right?

I'm not excusing her complacency, it unfortunately made her a victim, but there are lessons to be learned. I've said it before... stay vigilant when out in public, and don't put all your faith in technology and other people, they only need to fail you once in order to change everything forever.

Reminded me a LOT of the classic real death-gore video "train girl" where two people are crossing the street/tracks at the same time; one sees the danger and stops dead; the other is kind of dumb and oblivious and becomes dead... and, like "train girl" a good gruesome death it was

Update:

According to the video below, the victim's husband pardoned the bus driver on the grounds that he didn't want the bus driver's children to suffer the loss of a father because he now understands how they would feel after his own children have lost their mother (Two girls: A 17 month toddler and a 7 y.o. girl)

In Mexican law the pardon given by the victim's husband allows the bus driver to be freed.
I believe he's out of prison now.

Hi, that is not the same girl, I understand the confusion as the bus looks the same and it also happened in Guadalajara.
