India's life expectancy, 69 years and 4 months. Most Western countries like U.S. 78.8 in 2019 and U.K over 80. The World Health Organisation believes that most developed world countries characterise old age starting at 60 years and above. However, this definition isn't adaptable to a place like Africa, Asia, besides Japan. The more traditional definition of an elder, or elderly person, starts between 50 to 65 years of age in those countries. India's retirement age in public sector at the moment is 60. Full retirement age in U.S. is moving up to 67. |
