Coming from a career firefighter I'm with you on this...I don't buy this one. Despite the duration of burning, the fire didn't extend at all (literally even the plastic chair right next to the bed didn't even begin to offgas), would have produced far more smoke (especially at ceiling level where this camera is), smoke (and the resulting steam) cleared out almost instantly after water was applied (which just isn't reality), not a single person who entered that room coughed or appeared bothered by the huge amount of smoke that would have been present.

The source I got this video from usually posts reliable vids, but I'm now working to see if I can find anything to determine if this is authentic or not. If it becomes clear that this video is faked in some way, then I'll request it get removed.

Edit Can't find anything, and without obvious proof of fakery, I'm still on the side of authenticity. Weird things happen.

Of course it's real, it's just standard WC policy for someone to claim fake on everything.

People stay alive for hours after insane burns, what makes this one noteworthy is that he's conscious and speaking still at 4+ minutes.

Unlike other videos, he's laying flat on his back, and IMO that's giving him enough barely fresh and barely cool enough to stay conscious and not completely roast his airway. You can see the flames are more or less missing his facial region for most of it.

Insane video, thanks for posting. He took that shit, I was expecting the usual "oh hell no" and run around like crazy after a couple of seconds.

I'd love a translation of the conversation at the end. It seemed like he mostly blurted out the same 1 or 2 phrases.

The non-chalantness of the others putting it was weird, at the end it was like he wasn't sure if he was supposed to finish putting out his head region.

That unceremonious splashing of water I guess he realized his plan didn’t work and only he burned. Maybe he was just saying “FML” over and over at the end.

I cannot imagine the insane amount of fucked-up mess someone has to live in to either set themselves on fire or be the person who’s dousing the flames, barely reacting as though this is a typical Friday evening.
